How to Backup Gmail Emails Using Gmail Backup Software

A few weeks ago I have posted about an email backup software called Gmail Backup. GMail Backup is can be used to backup and restore your Gmail mailbox. Today, I will discuss how to backup Gmail Emails using Gmail Backup software. But, before performing backup or restore operation using this email backup software, you need to activate the IMAP access to your Gmail mailbox, first.

How to activate IMAP Access on GMail
To activate the IMAP access in Gmail follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. On the account page, click on Setting menu on the upper Right corner of the page.
  3. At the Setting page, click Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  5. Under POP/IMAP tab activate Enable IMAP option.
  6. Enable IMAP Access

  7. Save the changes you’ve made by clicking on Save Changes button.

After you are activating IMAP access on your Gmail Account, now you have to install Gmail Backup. After the installation has finished, run the applications. On the Gmail Bakcup window, enter your full email address on the Gmail login input. On the next input, insert your Gmail password.

After that, browse the location where you put the backup of your Gmail on your local computer.

Select a folder then click OK button.

Next, choose the emails that you want to backup. You can choose the Newest emails only or decided the since date and the before date.

To stat the backup operation click on Backup button.

The email backup operation takes a few minutes to complete the backup task. It is depending on the size of the emails that you want to backup.
