How to Disable Taskbar Thumbnail Preview in Windows 7

There are some tweaks we can do to the Windows 7 taskbar thumbnail preview to make it suite to our needs. On the previous post I have explained how to increase taskbar thumbnail preview size. With the tips we can increase or decrease the size of Windows 7 taskbar preview. Now, I will show you how to disable taskbar thumbnail preview in Windows 7. If you disable the taskbar thumbnail preview, you wont see a thumbnail shows when the mouse pointer hovered over an application in taskbar.

To disable taskbar thumbnail preview in Windows 7, follow these steps:

  1. Open Registry Editor by clicking Run. Then type regedit and hit Enter.
  2. On the Registry Editor, navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerTaskband
  3. In the RHS panel on the right side of the Window, create a DWORD value named MinThumbSizePx.
  4. Next, double click on MinThumbSizePx value you have just created to modify it’s value.
  5. Set the base to decimal. Then change the value to 250.
  6. Registry Editor - MaxThumbSizePx

Now close the Registry editor and restart or log off your computer. You will see the change after the computer has restarted.

Everything done. You have disable taskbar thumbnail preview in Windows 7. Enjoy it.
