How to Remove BitLocker from USB Flash Drive

On the previous post, I have explain how to encrypt USB flash drive with BitLocker, but I haven’t yet explain how to remove BitLocker from the USB Flash Drive. Perhaps, some of you wants to remove from your removable drive because of some reasons.

There are 5 steps to remove BitLocker Drive Encryption from removable drive. Here are the steps.

  1. Open Control Panel then click on BitLocker drive encryption link.
  2. BitLocker on ControlPanel

  3. On the nest window, click Turn Off BitLocker link on your removable drive or USB flash drive.
  4. TurnOff BitLocker on Removable Drive

  5. Next, the BitLocker Drive Encryption window will appear, click on Decrypt Drive button to start the decryption process.
  6. BitLocker Decrypt Drive

  7. The decryption progress takes some minutes to finish, so wait until the process completed. Do not plug off your removable drive during the process.
  8. After the process completed, a message box appears, tell you the decryption process was completed. Click on Close button to close the window.
  9. BitLocker Decryption Complete

Now, you have successfully remove BitLocker from your USB flash drive. But, the drive does’t protected again from data stolen.

    I went under Control Panel but there is no BitLocker option under Control Panel. I looked under Security and every other icon but the option isn’t there. Any suggestions?

    Hello i have accidently locked my ipod with bitlocker took and now im trying to access my ipod it would not let me i tried putting the password in it says “Bitlocker drive encryption failed to recover from an abruptly
    terminated conversion. This could be due to either all conversion logs
    being corrupted or the media being write-protected.” and I am putting the correct password and also i have tried to use the i forgot my password feature it still would not work after i put in the recovery key it says is it invalid …please can anyone help me i really need to get all my pictures and documents out of there they are really important to me i use my ipod as a USB also please anyone has a solution please help.!!

    Hello I have a portable drive that was protected with bit locker from my desktop at home. now im using my laptop and this has no bitlocker .. how cani decrypt my drive with out using my desktop at all

    hi, i already use this tips it works but problem is when i use my flashdrive in other computer trying to transfer file to my flashdrive again its says “Write Protected” what should i do to fix it….
